“I Think A Telescope” finds Robert Pollard deftly plucking a series of single notes on his acoustic guitar’s strings during one of the gentler moments on Please Be Honest. He alternates between a fretted note on one string and an open note on the string above, culminating in a single strum of a C5/G chord, which rings out and leaves the listener wondering if the song has already ended. An especially fun moment in the recording comes in the second verse, where a double-tracked acoustic guitar wanders out of sync with the first.
