Even as short as it is, the majority of “White Flag” is instrumental, with vocals taking up only about thirty seconds’ worth of the song’s total running time of two minutes and fifteen seconds. Robert Pollard’s rolling guitar arpeggios and Greg Demos’ high-register bass guitar melodies seem to be the real highlights of this song (and let’s not forget Tobin Sprout’s organ contribution), and it’s those guitar parts that we’ll look at in this post.
