“June Salutes You!” is not only a stand-out track on The Official Ironman Rally Song EP, but it also deserves a mention for having certain rare qualities as far as Guided By Voices songs go. The first being that it features a 12-string electric guitar (Where did this instrument come from? Why was it never used again?); the second being that it features Kim Deal on backing vocals (only for the last chorus, but it’s still awesome). This song is stellar even when you look past those two features, with a chorus catchy enough to get lodged in your cranium for days (or sometimes, for the entire month of June).
